Brittany is well known for its rich cultural heritage. Many come to the region to take part in the traditional Pardons, the hypnotic Fest-Noz and various Breton festivals such as Le Cornuaille in Quimper which takes place for one week each July. Here the streets come alive with celtic music and colourful parades in traditional costume, there are also two large stages which feature live music. The area is however well and truly alive with more modern acts. The Vieilles Charrues, is a well known rock festival, some would say a smaller version of Glastonbury, and each year has many big name bands as well as up and coming stars of the interntational scene. There are also smaller festivals such as the Fete du Bruit in Landerneau which attracts many big acts, in the past Simple Minds, Placebo, Madness, The Undertones, and Snoop Dog (or Lion!) amongst many others. The Festival du Bout du Monde on the Presqu’ile de Crozon is a large world music festival that takes place over 3 days at the beginning of August. All these festivals are family friendly and easily accessible from any of our houses. They take place roughly the same week each year.
