Once a pension de famille for mill workers in Pont-Aven, Kermaria dates back to 1850 and enjoys a picturesque location overlooking the River Aven. Thoughtfully restored to blend comfort with charm, the top floor of this historic house has been transformed into stylish, self-contained holiday suites. Perfect for those who value independence, seek something unique, and desire a tasteful place to stay.

Bright and spacious, the Kermaria River View Suites feature vaulted ceilings and views of the River Aven. The interiors are thoughtfully furnished with a mix of art, antiques, and upcycled furniture, while comfortable beds with luxurious linens and modern, pristine bathrooms ensure a restful stay. This beautifully designed accommodation is as cosy as it is generous—an inspiring yet relaxing retreat.

Each suite is fully equipped with kitchen facilities, allowing guests to prepare their own meals. We provide tea, coffee, and simple breakfast essentials. A more copious breakfast basket can be delivered to your door upon request for an extra charge.

The property boasts a private entrance and offers flexibility, with the option to rent the entire 90m² floor as a luxurious two-bedroom apartment, or as two separate self-contained suites.

Nestled in a quiet spot between the historic viaduct and the riverfront, Kermaria is just a short, scenic walk along the Xavier Grall to the charming town of Pont-Aven. There, you’ll find a rich array of museums, galleries, and an excellent selection of gourmet restaurants.

Step outside and take a stroll along the river path into the enchanting Bois d’Amour, where you’ll immediately be immersed in nature, surrounded by one of the most idyllic settings in Brittany. Alternatively, head to the nearby beach to explore the unspoiled, stunning coastline.

For guests with electric vehicles, we offer an EV charger by prior arrangement, and there is also a covered space for bicycles on the property. Free public parking is available at the rear.

The apartments have their own private access at the rear of the property and a shared terrace of 10m2 with outdoor seating for 2.

By interconnecting the above, the two double bedroom apartment of Kermaria takes over the whole of the top floor and, like a house on top of a house is a luxurious space of 90m2 with vaulted ceilings and river views. Each bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom and there is an open plan kitchen living and dining area which can comfortably accommodate 4 people. You have your own private entrance and exclusive use of the terrace.

THE MOST BEAUTIFULLY DESIGNED VACATION APARTMENT WE HAD EVER BEEN TO. We were 2 couples traveling together so we took the whole unit (2 apartments). High quality furnishing, very comfortable beds with 100% cotton white bed linens and soft white towels. Kitchen well equipped with lots of dinnerware and cutlery. Everything very clean, absolutely shining. Great location: At the centre of Pont Aven with direct river view from windows. Walking trail just at your doorstep, supermarket and boulangerie within 5-8 minutes walking. Claire, home owner, lives in the lower floor and is always quick to respond to any question, weather during reservation process or while staying. Claire has an extensive library of maps and guidebooks of the region that will offer you enough inspiration for months…! She also prepared a very useful list of Restaurants, local stores, hiking suggestions, etc.
Free public parking right in front the house. Location off the touristy, busy part of Pont Aven, yet everything within walking distance.

Kermaria Apartments: A Scenic Retreat Overlooking the River Aven

Nestled in a picturesque spot with views over the River Aven, Kermaria Apartments offer the perfect base, just 300 meters from the heart of Pont-Aven. A pleasant walk along the Xavier Grall will take you to the town’s charming shops, galleries, the fine arts museum, and an array of delightful restaurants.

Pont-Aven offers a wealth of activities to suit every interest. You can kayak or paddleboard on the serene River Aven, or explore the surrounding woods on horseback. The area is also a hiker’s paradise, with countless scenic walking trails. The apartment provides direct access to the footpaths along the river, leading into the Bois d’Amour and to the Chapelle de Tremalo. You can also stroll down to the port and follow the river path all the way to Port Manech, discovering hidden gems along the way.

The region is famous for its breathtaking coastline and pristine beaches, which are just a short bike ride down picturesque country lanes, or a 10-minute drive away.

The area is host to a number of fine dining and Michelin star restaurants. Please email me if you would like help with reservations.

There is free public parking 30m. from the entrance. Access to the property is by the footpath. Nearest train stations are Quimperle, Quimper and Lorient. There is a network of EV chargers in the area, but we have our own private one which can be used by prior arrangement. If you wish to visit without a car, the nearest train station is Quimperle and contact us for details on how to get to Pont Aven.
