This video filmed on a drone shows off beautifully the Cap Sizun in Finistère, Brittany. This area of unspoilt dramatic coastline is where our holiday houses in Brittany Ty Traez and Ty Bili are situated. The video starts off at the amazing Baie de Trepassés at the end of the peninsula, a beautiful bay between two headlands, the Pointe du Raz and the Pointe du Van. It is a well known surf spot and often cited as one of the top beaches in Europe, yet still rests as nature intended and off the beaten track. The video also features the coast a short walk from our holiday houses, the charming fishing port of Douarnenez and the Pointe de Brezellec which is one of our favourite areas for walking the stunning G34 coastal path.
The video ends on Audierne, 6km from our holiday houses and the local small town and fishing port. Here you can buy fresh fish straight from the boats and local produce from the market, take dinghy sailing lessons, stand up paddle or hire a kayak and venture up the river Goyen. Audierne is also the departure point for the ferries to the Ile de Sein, the small island off the Pointe du Raz, that sits so precariously at sea level that one wonders how the inhabitants survive in the wild winter storms.
This magical area of Brittany remains wild and natural and authentic and is like stepping back in time. The Cap Sizun has beautiful uncrowded beaches, limitless stretches of pristine coastal footpath, the freshest fish and seafood, good local produce, nice places to eat, and a gentle pace of life that seems to have escaped some of the trappings of modern life. It is also the location of two very comfortable and stylish Frenchberry holiday houses. Shhh don’t tell everybody…..
